Surgeon General’s Excoriation of the Day: In order to bring the United States in line with its hockey-playing hat (context), the FDA has proposed adding 36 new graphic warning labels to cigarette packs and ads (three of which are shown above).

The final warning labels will be selected in June, and tobacco companies will have 15 months to implement them, as well as apportion 20% of all ads to warnings.

What say the smokers? Would these dissuade you from your habit?

Do it.

Nobody smokes because they don’t realize it’s bad for you. People smoke for their own reasons, and I would venture to say that 99% of people understand the risks.

That being said, this would not dissuade my habits, but instead just make me laugh at their attempts to use fear mongering to destroy the tobacco industry. If they succeed in destroying it, have fun watching the American South fall into even harder economic times.
